Facebook

Yesterday, Ella and I went out to Redlands to have lunch with my sisters. It was Jani's birthday on Wednesday and it was great to celebrate! Anyway, at lunch, we got talking about Facebook...2 of my sisters are on it. So, last night I joined the craze! I can totally see how it's addicting! It's fun to see other people and learn what they are up to...especially those you haven't heard from or seen in a long, long time! It's pretty cool. I feel like I don't totally know Facebook Etiquette yet though! Like, can I ask to be friends with someone that I just kind of knew in college...is that considered weird? I don't know yet so I'm just letting people ask me if I'll be friends with them (at least those I am not sure about asking!) Anyway, it's fun!

I promise I will post a video (or try to) of Ella rolling but she's sleeping now and I can't do it. I guess I could have taken a video in the middle of the night last night since she did it 4 times last night and woke me up to flip her! I explained that she has two options...either learn to sleep on her tummy or learn to flip back to her back on her own...the NERVE of my 4 month old to not listen to mommy! :)

4 months

Ella is 4 months today! I can hardly believe how quickly time has gone! The big news was that yesterday she rolled over all by herself! Eric picked her up from the sitter so I could work a little late and put her on her gymini when he got home, was taking of his shoes and...there she was on her stomach! Now she does it all the time and it's so fun to watch! The downside is that she doesn't sleep on her stomach so this morning at 4:00, I hear her crying only to find her on her stomach, propped on her hands! Luckily I could just flip her over and she went back to sleep! This is my long week at work...I have to still go in tomorrow. I'm just thankful I don't need to do more than that...this is long enough! Oh how I love my 2 day weeks! I have pictures of her "big roll" but they'll have to wait...I don't feel like uploading them from the camera!

Before I sign off, I thought I'd share a funny story about tonight. We had to get a few things so we ventured off to Walmart because we had a gift card there. Anyway, we got to the self-check-out and the total rings up to about $1 under the gift card amount. I HATE having cards with nothing but change on them so I quick got a couple candy bars to make up the difference. (At this point, Eric was slightly annoyed that I was holding up the line to do this). The total comes up and now we owe $.20. I didn't have my purse (and I'm always the one with change) so Eric opeend his wallet to find he only had a $20! Oops!! So we paid 20 cents with 20 bucks but hey, we didn't have anything left on the gift card! Poor Eric was really annoyed then but I was cracking up and he soon saw the humor in it as well! Lucky for me I picked his favorite candy bars!

A new toy

Today, Eric and I put Ella's excersaucer together! She might still be a little too little for it but she's doing great at holding her head up and putting weight on her legs so we thought we would give it a try! She LOVED it! We had to put a pillow at the bottom so she could reach but she really liked looking and playing with all the toys and I think she thought she was big stuff being up the whole time! I'm sure it was a welcome change from sitting in her swing or laying on her gymini! Anyway, here's a great picture of her focusing VERY hard on this new spinny toy! I love the furrowed brow!

Here's another picture of one of my favorite times with her...right after bath time! I think she looks so cute in her little towel!

Tomorrow starts my longest week of school so far...3 whole days! I'm kind of dreading it to be honest! I feel like I have the first day of school jitters every Sunday night now since I'm not there all week. I know it will go well, just a lot of time away from Ella! Have a great week!

Kyle John

Eric's sister, Karen, had little Kyle John on Friday! He weighed in at 9 lbs, 9 oz and 22 inches long! Mom, Dad, and little sister, Kaitlin are all doing well! It's so fun to watch our family just keep growing! With a cousin close on both sides, Ella will never be bored when we're with family!

Tessa & Ella

Saturday we went out to visit Jani & Dan because Eric hadn't met Tessa yet. We had a fun time hanging out with them and their kiddos! Here's a picture of Tessa & Ella...doesn't Ella look like a giant?!?! Right now, 3 months makes sucha difference but for most of life, 3 months will hardly mean a thing!

Look teacher, a baby caterpillar...

I don't often share stories on my blog about school even though I often have MANY I think you might appreciate! However, sometimes things happen at school not directly related to one student. For example, 2 years ago, a hawk flew into my classroom while chasing another bird. Now, mind you, we often have birds fly in our rooms...strange, yes, but it happens more often than you might imagine! Also, please keep in mind that I HATE birds. Anyway, the hawk flew in...I made my students basically duck and cover and we ALL (including myself) crawled out of the classroom before it picked up one of my students with it's sharp claws!

Well, recently we've had another problem. Last Wednesday, while we were out at recess, a little girl came up to me with her hand extended saying, "Look teacher, I found a baby caterpillar." I look in her hand to see a small white worm crawling around...not a caterpiller, a maggot!!!!!! Stunned, I quickly told her to drop it, go wash her hands and NOT touch those again...as calmly as I could! I immediately killed the maggot and since then, we have discovered MORE of them near the tables where the kids eat! It is SO disgusting and the janitor is all over it trying to get them all killed but wow! I have NEVER been so disgusted in my life! I'm sorry if you are all thoroughly grossed out as well now but I just had to share the sweet innocence my students have! A baby caterpillar...

Back to life...

Well, last week was my first official week back at work! The week before had been meetings and everything but last Tuesday was my first day with the kiddos. It went pretty good...I have some interesting students and I'm pretty sure that will make it an interesting year but overall, I think it will be ok! You just really forget how young kindergarteners are when they come in...so squirrely and SUCH short attention spans! I look forward to the day when they know the routines and procedures as well as the kids did last year! It takes a good month for that training to happen so I just need to plan to be exhausted until then! It is WONDERFUL working part time though and while I'm much more busy when I'm there, it helps make the days go faster and it's worth it to be home some days! Today was Monday and tomorrow is my Friday so I truly cannot complain!

Ella has been doing great with Miss Judy (the wonderful woman who is watching her on Monday and Tuesday) and I'm so thankful she can be with someone who isn't watching a bunch of other kids. She's going to be 4 months next week and I can hardly believe how quickly the time is going! Here are a few pictures from a couple weeks ago of Ella's first swim! We were at Eric's parents and she absolutely LOVED the water! It was a little chilly too and we thought she might not like it but she thought it was great!
